With weather in the 70s for the last week, we’ve been enjoying the weather outside well into the evening. However, we’ve also found our toddler a bit overstimulated after our bubble-blowing and park outings. We need to find a balance. How often should we take Nora out to play in the evenings and how often should we stay indoors and play quietly?

It’s a working parent dilemma, for sure. When you only have a few hours every day to enjoy the outdoors you want to take advantage, but not at the cost of your little one’s sanity.

  1. I’m a working mom of 3 boys and I know your dilemma. From 5 to 730 is our time together and I want to do as much as we can but also stick to our bedtime schedule. We often have our battles when it’s time to come in and get ready for bed…but what they really want is just time with mom. Inside or outside, it doesnt matter.

    1. Thanks for your comment! We stayed inside tonight (coloring, of course!) and bedtime was a little easier. I’m not sure if the low-key time inside helped, but we’ll certainly keep going outside.

  2. Oh, it must be so hard to resist going out in the evenings, especially with that playground so close by!
We are guilty of staying out pretty late (7:30 or so) these last few (glorious) evenings. We pay for it at 9pm. And 10pm. And 11pm.

    1. We opened all of the windows last night and played indoors. Nora slept much better, though I can’t do that every night! I love evening walks in the spring/summer. That’s what life’s about, right?
