For Steve’s birthday, we went to Max Brenner in Center City Philadelphia. We had anticipated the outing for some time; not only had we been talking about the chocolate menu for months, we had not gone out of our house together on a date since Nora arrived in September.
As a prelude to an actual visit to the restaurant, Steve bought me one of Max’s tins of chocolate for Christmas. I indulged in the different chocolates throughout January and couldn’t wait for our real, live visit to the restaurant for my hubby’s 29th b-day.
Our visit did not disappoint. Rather than fill up on nonchocolate food for lunch, we shared a few appetizers while I drank Mexican Hot Chocolate and Steve sampled the White Chocolate White Russian.
For dessert, we ordered the chocolate, caramel-praline, and raspberry fondue plate served with churros as well as a chocolate-caramel concoction. It was heaven! I even bought chocolate to go in the gift shop.
Well worth a five-month wait for a date!
